Job Summary
This role acts as an extension of engineering leadership within the engineering team. We require a competent and self-motivated individual to manage and lead the Engineering Package Team. This team plays an important role in the product creation process, leading the Virtual Series activities, the integration of vehicle architecture, component layout, and geometrical optimization to meet functional, safety, and manufacturing targets. The role requires a blend of technical understanding, delivery rigor, and strong stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and guide a team of Package Leaders responsible for deploying and managing the Virtual Series and Hardpoint Definition processes within their responsible programmes.
- Architecture Integration: Manage and support the team leading package reviews, using your knowledge and experience to provide guidance and support in the resolution of vehicle wide package issues. Ensure robust and efficient solutions are embedded into the overall vehicle programs.
- Engineering: As well as managing the team you will be required to be a ‘hands on’ engineer able to generate models using CATIA V5 that will help guide the studio & engineering functions with schemes that can be easily understood and incorporated.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Working with Engineering Function Groups, Design, Manufacturing, Quality & Program Teams, lead the team to deliver solutions which balance the needs of the program including vehicle attributes, architecture and legal compliance.
- Technical Reporting: Regularly communicate Virtual Series status, package and architecture issues and issue resolution plans to the business including the senior executive leadership when required.
- Programme: Actively and constructively participate in planning and development of the program with respect to Virtual Series. Manage the Engineering Package Team resources to support the program. Assist in delivery of engineering solutions which deliver to cost, quality, and timing.
- Virtual Series & Hard Points: Lead the development of the Virtual Series and Hard Point definition processes and their reporting within the business. Be seen as a strong advocate of the Virtual Series process and encourage the teams to take an active participation in developing it to benefit engineering integrity and programme delivery. Working with the Design Team, Chief Engineers and Engineering Functions, ensure the team also deliver hardpoints in a timely manner which support the programme targets, vehicle attributes and regulatory requirements.
- Resource Management: Manage Package Team resource allocations across active vehicle platforms. Take an active role in developing the team, their individual competencies and their development plans.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- 5–10 years of experience in a similar role.
- Exceptional technical and organizational skills as well as a thorough knowledge and experience in CAD systems, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and vehicle assembly processes.
- CATIA V5 design experience essential and a working knowledge of Enovia 3Dx PLM system (or similar).
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycles and engineering best practices.

Preferable:
- Experience working in an automotive organization.
- Background in technical program management, strategy, or management consulting.
- MA or advanced technical degree.
