About The Role
Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution is currently recruiting for an Engineering Planner to support the successful delivery of major transmission and substation projects across the UK. Working as part of a high-performing team, you will play a key role in planning and delivering critical energy infrastructure that supports the UK's transition to Net Zero.
What you'll be doing
As a Planning Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from tender stage through to completion.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Developing, maintaining, and monitoring detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and other planning tools.
- Producing fully resourced and logically linked programmes across all phases of project delivery.
- Supporting bid and tender submissions through the development of robust planning strategies and construction programmes.
- Identifying critical path activities, project risks, and programme constraints, implementing mitigation measures where required.
- Monitoring progress and performance against programme milestones, providing accurate forecasting and reporting.
- Producing planning reports, dashboards, KPIs, and management information for project teams and senior stakeholders.
- Supporting change management processes, delay analysis, and programme impact assessments.
- Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial teams, Supply Chain partners, and Clients to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Sharing knowledge, supporting junior planners, and contributing to the continuous improvement of planning processes across the business.

We're interested in hearing from planners with experience gained within infrastructure, utilities, construction, rail, energy, or civil engineering environments.
You'll Ideally Have
- Experience in a Planning Engineer, Planner, or Senior Planner position.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject.
- Experience working on major infrastructure, energy, utilities, civil engineering, or construction projects.
- Knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
- Experience undertaking critical path analysis, earned value management, risk analysis, and programme reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex project information.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- A degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or a related discipline.
