The Role
Location & Hours
We are hiring an Engineering Planning & Stores Controller working Monday to Friday 08.00 - 16.00 at our industry leading conversion plant on junction 29a of the M1. We are the Smurfit Westrock team at Markham Vale
Role Purpose
Engineering Planning and Stores Controller manages engineering spares, project materials, and stock levels to ensure plant and manufacturing efficiency. Responsibilities include forecasting material needs, reducing obsolete stock, reconciling inventory records, and scheduling engineering activity with parts arrivals.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Manage suppliers, track engineering parts, tools, and maintenance consumables to prevent shortages and loss of machine time or excess stock.
- Planning & Scheduling: Create schedules and align inventory availability with active engineering or production timelines in partnership with the team
- Auditing & Record Keeping: Conduct regular stock counts, reconcile physical stock with digital logs, and investigate variances within SAP.
- Procurement Support: Raise purchase requisitions, monitor order statuses, and track supplier lead times.
- System Updates: Maintain accurate data entries within company enterprise systems (e.g., ERP or computerized maintenance management software)

Skills And Experience
- Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of enterprise resource planning tools (e.g., SAP or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical Abilities: Competence in reviewing lead times, consumption trends, and forecasting data.
- Organization: High attention to detail to avoid financial losses caused by stock inaccuracies.
- Communication: Effective skills for collaborating with procurement, warehouse staff, and external vendors.
- Background: Prior experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or technical supply chain environment.
