Engineering Project Lead - Mechanical Engineering Consultant | Medical Devices

ARCA is partnered with a leading product development consultancy looking to strengthen its Medical Devices team with experienced consultants who can combine technical expertise with project leadership and client engagement.

There are multiple positions available across differing levels of seniority, with the scope and level of responsibility shaped around the experience of the individual.

This is a broad role for someone who wants to remain close to the engineering while taking greater ownership of complex medical device development programmes, multidisciplinary teams and client relationships.

The role:

  • Lead medical device development projects across the full lifecycle, from concept through to manufacture
  • Take ownership of technical direction, project delivery, budgets and timescales
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across mechanical engineering, electronics, software and industrial design
  • Work directly with MedTech, diagnostics and life sciences clients
  • Guide engineering teams through complex product development and design challenges
  • Build long-term client relationships and contribute to the commercial side of consultancy

What we're looking for:

  • Strong mechanical engineering background with significant injection-moulded product development experience
  • Consultancy experience, with direct client-facing responsibility
  • Medical device development experience within an ISO 13485 environment
  • Experience taking complete products through the development lifecycle
  • Strong design for manufacture (DFM) and high-volume manufacturing knowledge
  • Experience leading technical projects and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong engineering degree / academic background
