Through the wide range of our activities, we are central to the collective organisation of society and the living environment of citizens all over the world. We are now looking for an Engineering Project Manager (Mechanical / Electrical) to join our growing Special Projects team in Glasgow.Job DescriptionAs an active Project Manager within our Specialist Projects team, you will support multiple and complex work assignments, helping to deliver within timeframes and actively contributing to the management of resources to provide exemplary professional services to our clients. You will be as comfortable working autonomously as you will be within a team and will strive to deliver best in class services for a broad range of clients, across multiple projects, with a particular emphasis on projects with a high degree of technical complexity (mechanical / electrical / process content).Your approach will represent T&A’s company values and will provide a personal, quality focused service that delivers upon the client’s business objectives. You will establish strong, supportive, professional relationships with colleagues, clients and the wider project teams built on mutual respect, trust and integrity all whilst contributing to Thomas and Adamson’s strategic business growth.The role involves delivering a turnkey consultancy service, with elements of project management, quantity surveying and contract administration on projects of a highly specialist nature where a degree of technical knowledge and understanding is required.Your primary responsibilities will include:Planning• Contributing to the development of Project Management Plans, establishing project strategy and lines of communication lines for all project stakeholders.• Supporting the development of master programmes, identifying project milestones and project team member responsibilities.• Contributing to the interrogation of construction programmes, agreeing changes or enhancements.Engaging• Liaising with key stakeholders to fully define project requirements and develop the project brief.• Establishing, implementing and leading project meetings with all project team members and stakeholder groups on allocated commissions / supporting on others.• Producing project correspondence ensuring actions are clearly defined and delivered upon by all project team members within agreed timescalesProcuring• Contributing to the production off and issuance of Request for Proposals (RFPs) and other appointment documents.• Preparation of tender documents ensuring a full and comprehensive understanding of the project requirements is conveyed and reflected in tender documentation.• Reviewing and commenting upon tender returns from a technical compliance and cost standpoint.• Negotiations with contractors to ensure tender costs represent best value.Managing Risk, Delivering Value• Assisting with the review and commentary on design packages to ensure compliance with the project brief.• Contributing to value engineering and risk review workshops.• Compiling and tracking risk mitigation activities and value engineering opportunities.• Assisting with the assessment of Contractor’s claims for delay events; working with commercial team members to establish entitlement.Project / Contract Administration• Assessing and reporting on contractor progress and commercial matters during delivery.• Assessing quality on-site, raising instructions for defect rectification when necessary.• Managing the design team to ensure all contract requirements are being fulfilled.• Managing and co-ordinating responses to technical queries or requests for information.• Selection, recommendation, preparation and administration of construction contracts.• Ensuring document management and communications protocols are adhered to, including correct use of T&A’s Document Management System (DMS).• Quantity surveying – cost estimation, procurement and tendering, change control, final accounts.• Assisting with the identification and appointment of appropriate sub-consultants as required for project delivery, ensuring relevant protections and minimisation of exposure to risk for T&A.General Duties• Overseeing / reviewing / approving the work of sub-consultants or directly appointed project team members.• Providing other professional services as directed by senior staff and/or as required by project appointments.• Participate in and deliver professional development and training activities working continually to further develop your knowledge and experience.• Build upon and maintain culture.• Mentor more junior staff.• Network and support business development objectives.• Maintain and develop relationships with existing clients, becoming integral to their ongoing construction related projects Key attributes:• Hands-on, results-orientated and client centric.• A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.• Strong communication, listening, and presentation skills.• Able to deal with ambiguity and an organised multi-tasker.• Decisive and calm under pressure.• Technically minded.Qualifications• Degree in a relevant construction discipline.• Demonstrable experience of working on projects with a high degree of technical complexity (mechanical / electrical / process) as an M&E QS or Project Manager.• Working towards / Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or equivalent (desirable)Additional InformationEquality, Diversity & Inclusion:At Egis, we are an Equal Opportunities employer and we recognise the value of a diverse organisation.
