The Engineering Services Department supports Assembly and Metalshop by providing the information required to produce customer orders. They are also responsible for metalwork punch and fold programming. Although this is an office-based role, time is also spent on the shop floor, advising/problem solving.

Main duties & responsibilities

PCoding

  • The creation and maintenance of Bill of Material (BOM), using in-house DERP software.
  • Ongoing maintenance of BOMs in line with component changes and to improve accuracy.
  • Ongoing review of BOM presentation to ensure that the information is presented to production in a user friendly and efficient manner.
  • Communication with departments to raise awareness of changing components or assembly requirements.

CNC Programming

  • To carry out programming of CNC machinery including punch, laser and folding machinery.
  • To carry out CAM programming functions inc. Ariel 5 saws, Dopag, HAAS and router.
  • To work with design/production to establish manufacturing solutions to new/existing designs.
  • To ensure that all aspects of manufacturing/assembly are considered in metalwork designs.
  • To develop and produce prototype samples and ensure production is optimised.
  • To assist with production adjustment of folding programs to allow for metalwork quality/ folding reactions of material.
  • To provide help in all forms on assembly issues within Assembly and the Metalshop.
  • Any other technical related duty to assist in the needs of the business.

  • Good communicator and good people skills.
  • Ability to retain information.
  • Excellent organiser able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to work to a high level of accuracy.
  • The ability to gather information from other departments.
  • Computer literate.
  • An understanding of both Salvagnini and Amada machine tools would be a distinct advantage, but is not essential.
