Engineering Shift Supervisor | Rochdale
As an Engineering Shift Supervisor, you will lead shift maintenance activities, manage operational priorities and drive continuous improvement to deliver safe, reliable production performance across our Rochdale site.
What You Will Be Doing
As a key operational leader, you will oversee day-to-day shift engineering performance, setting clear objectives and supporting line efficiency to achieve departmental goals.
- Team Management & Scheduling: Direct, plan and schedule shift engineering personnel, setting clear daily objectives to foster an inclusive, high-performing and safe working environment.
- Fault Finding & Prioritisation: Lead line fault-finding activities and coordinate resource prioritisation in partnership with functional leads to minimise downtime and maintain line OEE.
- Maintenance & Compliance: Plan and execute site equipment maintenance in line with departmental strategy, maintaining precise plant records while adhering to statutory and quality standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean and structured improvement methodologies to promote operational efficiency, safety mindsets and food safety across your shift.

What You Will Bring
We are looking for a proactive engineering professional who combines strong technical leadership with a continuous improvement mindset. You will bring the expertise needed to solve complex operational challenges while helping your team thrive on shift.
- Experience: Proven experience supervising technical teams in an engineering or manufacturing setting, ideally supported by a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
- Soft Skills: Strong cross-functional communication abilities, a collaborative leadership style that earns trust by example and a safety-first approach to team management.
- Hard Skills: HNC or equivalent engineering qualification, strong line fault-finding capabilities, financial awareness regarding spare parts stock and formal training in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
