Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity is available for three Engineering Specialists to join National Grid Electricity Distribution. We currently have two vacancies within the Capital Delivery Projects team, with positions based in Hinckley and Grantham, and one vacancy within the Maintenance team, based in Hinckley.

Reporting to an Operations/Team Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and delivery of a range of underground, overhead, plant and protection systems on the distribution network and at operational sites up to and including 132kV.

The Capital Delivery Projects team is responsible for delivering a significant programme of network investment projects across National Grid Electricity Distribution's network. As an Engineering Specialist within this team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of a multi-billion-pound capital investment programme designed to improve network resilience, support customer connections, facilitate decarbonisation and enable the transition to a smarter energy system. Working collaboratively with a range of departments and external contractors, you will play a key role in safely delivering projects from construction through to commissioning.

The Maintenance team is responsible for ensuring the ongoing reliability, performance and safety of the distribution network and operational sites. As an Engineering Specialist within the Maintenance team, you will carry out planned and corrective maintenance activities on underground, overhead, plant and protection assets up to and including 132kV. Working closely with operational colleagues, you will help maintain network integrity, minimise disruptions and support the long-term performance of critical infrastructure.

Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
