Engineering Supervisor - Data Centre

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Supervisor to join an established data centre operator at a critical facility in Slough, Berkshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineering professional with leadership experience to oversee the day-to-day delivery of engineering operations within a critical environment.

You will be responsible for leading the on-site engineering team, managing maintenance activities and ensuring critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure operates safely, reliably and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day engineering operations and maintenance activities across the facility.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of shift technicians and engineers.
  • Oversee planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance across critical infrastructure.
  • Ensure the reliability and availability of UPS systems, generators, chillers, HVAC, pumps and electrical distribution.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules, contractor activities and specialist engineering works.
  • Monitor engineering performance, ensuring service levels, operational KPIs and maintenance targets are achieved.
  • Support fault diagnosis, technical investigations and incident management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, site procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Manage permit-to-work processes, risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Review operational documentation, including standard operating procedures and emergency operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and asset documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, equipment reliability and engineering standards.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and senior stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.

Experience Required

  • An electrical or mechanical qualification, ideally NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Previous experience within data centres, critical environments, facilities management or building services.
  • Demonstrable experience supervising engineers or technicians within an operational environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Experience managing planned and reactive maintenance programmes.
  • Understanding of UPS systems, generators, chillers, HVAC and electrical distribution.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, permit-to-work systems and risk management.
  • Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of safety and service delivery.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational performance.
