About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated First-Line Supervisor to join our Mobile Engineering Team.

This is a hands-on supervisory position combining responsibility for team performance, technical compliance, and customer service with the delivery of planned and reactive engineering works.

The successful candidate will supervise a multidisciplinary team of mobile engineers, coordinate operational activity, and provide technical support to the Service Delivery Manager. You will also liaise directly with clients, lead team briefings, and confidently present operational updates during both in-person and Microsoft Teams meetings.

Strong IT skills are essential, as the role involves reviewing electronic documentation, using operational systems, producing reports, and training engineers in the effective use of handheld devices and OCS Q.

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:30

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the mobile engineering team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance and operational support to engineers.
  • Set and review team objectives and development plans.
  • Monitor sickness absence and complete return-to-work interviews promptly.
  • Escalate attendance, conduct, or performance concerns to the Service Delivery Manager and HR where appropriate.
  • Deputise for the Maintenance Service Delivery Manager when required.
  • Support the induction, training, and development of new and existing team members.
  • Lead toolbox talks, team briefings, and operational meetings.
  • Confidently communicate and present information to large groups during in-person and Microsoft Teams meetings.

Operational and Technical Delivery

  • Complete planned preventative maintenance, proactive maintenance, and reactive works within agreed timeframes.
  • Support the monthly planning and coordination of core PPM engineering activity.
  • Ensure work is delivered in accordance with SLAs, contractual requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Provide technical support to the SCTS helpdesk regarding reactive works and engineering queries.
  • Monitor subcontractor activity and workmanship, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Review engineering inspections and maintenance reports to identify reactive repairs and additional work opportunities.
  • Ensure equipment and surrounding work areas are maintained to agreed company standards.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide an emergency response when required.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Review weekly timesheets and approve overtime in line with agreed procedures.
  • Review and validate technical paperwork, statutory records, and engineering documentation.
  • Audit site logbooks, engineering activity, and subcontractor documentation.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and company vehicles are inspected and recorded as required.
  • Confirm that work is undertaken in accordance with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Construction Phase Plans.
  • Oversee the completion and delivery of risk assessments, method statements, toolbox talks, and hazard reports.
  • Promote the use of EcoOnline and ensure hazards and incidents are recorded correctly.
  • Identify operational, technical, and safety risks and escalate them promptly.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
