Engineering Supervisor
Merthyr Tydfil
4 on, 4 off, Days & Nights
£50,000 - £52,000
We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Supervisor to join an established food manufacturing site in Merthyr Tydfil.
This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for managing a team of Multi Skilled Engineers and ensuring the site maintains continuous production through effective preventative maintenance, breakdown response, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will have a strong engineering background alongside previous experience supervising or leading an engineering team within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Multi Skilled Engineers on shift
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities
- Respond effectively to breakdowns and minimise production downtime
- Provide technical and behavioural support to engineers and apprentices
- Drive preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Act as a technical resource for engineering projects and specifications
- Analyse maintenance and production data to identify areas for improvement
- Promote best practice across the engineering function
- Ensure all engineering activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures

The Candidate
- Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering qualification
- Previous experience in a maintenance engineering environment
- Experience leading or supervising an engineering team
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault finding knowledge
- PLC knowledge and operational awareness
- Domestic wiring experience
- Boiler / steam experience would be advantageous
- Experience with continuous improvement and Lean methodologies
- Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills
- Organised, disciplined, and able to work under pressure
- Proactive approach with the ability to work on own initiative
