Engineering Support Technician

Location: Verwood, Dorset

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £15.00 per hour

Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 7.30am - 4.30pm
  • Friday: 7.30am - 12.30pm

We are recruiting for an Engineering Support Technician to join a well-established precision engineering company based in Verwood.

This is a varied, hands-on role that sits at the heart of a busy CNC machine shop, ensuring production runs efficiently by supporting machinists with the tools, materials and equipment they need throughout the day.

Whether you already have experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment, or you're technically minded, organised and keen to build a career in engineering, this is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and develop your knowledge of CNC machining, tooling and precision manufacturing.

The Role

Working closely with the production team, you will be responsible for preparing everything required for upcoming machining jobs, helping to keep production running smoothly and efficiently.

Your duties will include:

  • Preparing tooling, fixtures, gauges and consumables ready for production.
  • Picking and organising materials for upcoming machining jobs.
  • Supporting CNC machinists by ensuring everything required is available before each job begins.
  • Returning tooling and equipment after production and checking everything is complete and ready for future use.
  • Inspecting tooling for wear or damage and reporting anything requiring replacement.
  • Monitoring stock levels of tooling, inserts and consumables.
  • Recording tooling movements and updating internal systems where required.
  • Working closely with production planners and machinists to prioritise urgent work.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient work area.
  • Contributing ideas to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
