About the role:

The Engineering Systems Team in Group IT ensures JCB’s Engineering Teams have the right software to deliver programs successfully.

As an Engineering Systems Development Engineer, you’ll be a key developer and configurator of global engineering applications such as Teamcenter (RAC & AWC), NX, Visualisation, and Geolus.

You’ll lead application development efforts, investigating solutions and implementing configuration changes—including data models, workflows, and UI—aligned with the Engineering Systems roadmap, change requests, and project needs.

Working closely with global teams, IT colleagues, stakeholders, and third parties, you’ll deliver software enhancements, upgrades, and ongoing improvements. You’ll manage your own workload across both project and business-as-usual activities, gaining valuable global exposure in a varied and impactful role.

What does this role involve day to day?

  • Day-to-day running and monitoring of Engineering Systems – generate reports, analyse and interpret application performance, identify potential system improvements and close out identified problems.
  • Ability to fault find to root cause using industry recognised methods and techniques.
  • The role will support and development of the global PLM system and its associated applications, such as CAD / CAE / Manufacturing & Business Integration.
  • Identification, development and configuration of new or improved functionality, applications and upgrades of Engineering Software to the global engineering teams.
  • Provide Development support to the Group IT Infrastructure Team on Engineering Systems server infrastructure, processes, scheduled tasks and application monitoring.
  • Gather requirements and justification for system development and support for the Engineering applications.
  • Participate, coordinate and document existing and future Engineering application Developments through testing programs to generate justification and deliver project sign-off with the Engineering Leaders.

This will be suited to you if…

  • You have a Degree in IT or an Engineering discipline.
  • You have 5 years’ experience of Engineering Systems support.
  • You have knowledge of Java/Perl or similar programming languages.
  • You can attain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
  • You have a passion for technology and desire to have the opportunity to develop and contribute to the delivery of Engineering Systems applications for global solutions.
  • You take full end to end ownership of applications / business processes / capabilities within the PLM solution suite.
  • You take responsible for Developing PLM solutions and capabilities in the context of the business process, defining & coordinating continuous improvement activities for existing business processes currently managed in Teamcenter or its associated applications.
  • You have a technical hands-on background with Application and/or Hardware support.
  • You are a keen, self-starter with aptitude to learn and be a great team player.

It would be further advantageous if you have Siemens Teamcenter experience in some applications such as Classification / Query Builder / Preference Management / Tc Reporting & Analytics, but training would be available for this and the other applications and disciplines for the successful applicant.
