Are you an experienced Engineering Team Leader, Lead Engineer, or Multi Skilled Engineer ready to take the next step?
At our Wednesbury bakery, we’re looking for an experienced Multi Skilled Engineer with strong leadership experience to lead and support our shift engineering team. You’ll bring strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge, with an electrical bias preferred, alongside the confidence to lead from the front in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Recipe
As an Engineering Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in keeping our bakery running safely, reliably, and efficiently.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll lead, coach, and develop a small team of Multi Skilled Engineers while working closely with our Production teams to deliver planned and reactive maintenance, tackle engineering challenges, and continually improve plant performance.
You’ll create an environment where your team can perform at their best, encouraging new ideas, recognizing great work, and making sure safety and quality remain at the heart of everything we do.
The Method
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading, developing, and engaging your shift Engineering team
- Delivering planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance to a high standard
- Supporting the team to diagnose faults and resolve breakdowns quickly and effectively
- Taking the lead on more complex engineering and maintenance issues
- Driving plant reliability and helping to reduce downtime
- Leading short interval control meetings alongside our Production team
- Ensuring equipment is safe to operate and maintained in line with health, safety, and food safety standards
- Coaching and supporting colleagues to build engineering capability, including autonomous maintenance
- Using SAP PM effectively to support maintenance planning and engineering performance
- Ensuring clear, detailed handovers between engineering shifts
- Supporting continuous improvement and our wider engineering reliability strategy

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
