The Engineering Technical Lead will serve as the primary customer interface and lead a team of software, testing, and delivery engineers from requirements, through testing to release of the embedded software. Working within an agile V-cycle delivery framework the team is responsible for software architecture, MATLAB/Simulink model development, unit testing, component and HiL integration testing. Close collaboration and clear communication to the team and the customer is essential ensuring customer requirements are met on time.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical authority across all assigned work packages, leading production and review of software architecture documents, design artifacts, Simulink models and testing activities.
  • Manage the engineering team ensuring all deliverables are achieved on time and to quality, contractual and legislative requirements.
  • Lead stand-ups and sprint ceremonies for the Expleo team.
  • Identify, assess and escalate technical risks, proposing clear mitigation actions.
  • Ensure resource capability and skill allocation are suitable for the project.
  • Be the technical focal point of the team and build good working relationships with customers. Manage continuous improvement.
  • Line-manage and mentor team of software and test engineers.

Qualifications

  • Degree (BEng / MEng) in Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Functional Safety (ISO 26262) awareness training desirable.

Essential skills

  • Hand-on experience in model-based automotive embedded software development using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Demonstrable experience developing Simulink application software development for body domain.
  • Experience with automotive unit, component and HiL testing.
  • Familiarity with requirement management tools such as IBM Doors, Polarion, Jama or similar.
  • Understanding of V-cycle software development methodology within the automotive industry.
  • Proven track record leading a team of software and testing engineers.
  • Experience in technical review and approval.
  • Ability to interpret complex functional requirements and translate them into clear technical designs for a development team.
  • Skilled in project delivery, experience in operating within an agile sprint delivery model with the ability to balance multiple concurrent work package deliveries.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical status and issues clearly to both engineers and managers.

Desired skills

  • Heavy duty automotive experience.
  • Knowledge of Euro7 emission legislation and its software/control implications.
  • Experience working directly with OEM or Tier 1.
  • Experience managing distributed teams.
