Lead Technical Engineer (Cyber Security / SOC)
Location: Frimley (Hybrid - approximately 2 days per month onsite)
Salary: Up to £82,000 + 10% Bonus
NOTE: Candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.
Join a team delivering cutting-edge cyber security solutions that protect critical national and enterprise infrastructure. We're looking for a Lead Technical Engineer to play a key role in the design, deployment and evolution of Security Operations Centre (SOC) capabilities across complex cloud and on-premise environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on cyber professional who enjoys leading technical design activities, working closely with stakeholders, and shaping secure, scalable security operations solutions. Experience across SOC technologies, security architecture and enterprise infrastructure will be highly valued.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the design of SOC and cyber security solutions across complex environments
- Produce high-level and low-level technical designs and implementation plans
- Support the deployment and configuration of technologies including SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management and threat intelligence platforms
- Design secure cloud and on-premise infrastructure, ensuring resilience, scalability and compliance
- Work with security tooling such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, Microsoft Defender/XDR and related cyber technologies
- Define infrastructure requirements including networking, compute and storage considerations
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective solutions
- Support testing, deployment and operational handover activities
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring across project teams

What We're Looking For
- 5+ years' commercial experience in designing, building or operating SOC capabilities
- Strong knowledge of at least two of the following: SIEM, SOAR, EDR, Vulnerability Management or Threat Intelligence
- Experience deploying and configuring security technologies within cloud and/or on-premise environments
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, VLANs and network security
- Experience with Windows and Linux administration
- Understanding of cyber threats, attack techniques and security best practices
- Knowledge of enterprise security architecture and infrastructure design principles
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience leading technical workstreams or small engineering teams
