Job Description
The Engineering Technical Program Manager (TPM) will drive complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives from conception to deployment, managing timelines, mitigating risks, and ensuring technical scalability. The TPM will evaluate complex systems and identify, quantify, and mitigate potential design, manufacturing, or project execution failures. Conduct analysis to ensure designs meet technical, manufacturability, and reliability objectives and comply with industry standards using methods such as FTA, FMEA, and probabilistic risk assessments. Engagement will be for near term and future R&D efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analyses, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP)
- Ensure engineering designs comply with industry regulations, international safety standards (e.g., ISO, IEC), and corporate governance policies
- Develop and recommend actionable risk mitigation strategies, design modifications, or operational controls to minimize identified hazards
- Collaborate with testing and validation teams to verify that risk controls are effective and appropriately integrated into the final design
- Author comprehensive risk management plans and analytical reports for executive stakeholders and external customers
- Serve as the primary technical advisor, bridging the gap between design engineers, project managers, and manufacturing
- Mentor engineers, technicians, and production staff on risk analysis best practices

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
