Engineering Technical Specialist

London Based
Salary: £72,500 - £85,000 per annum based on experience

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Engineering Technical Specialist to join our innovative engineering team. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to support system design, troubleshooting, and project execution across various engineering disciplines. Your proactive approach will drive continuous improvement, ensure system reliability, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to technological advancement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with and stay abreast of changes to UKPN G81 Design Specifications, ensuring that relevant changes are communicated to the design team.
  • Manage the design team to produce effective designs to conform with all relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Ensure design compliance with the CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Ensure high standards of safety management throughout all areas of responsibility.
  • Production and review of Designs.
  • Support the production of LONO’s.
  • Produce Design Stage Risk Assessments and Hazard Elimination & Management Lists for the safe delivery of project work as and when required.
  • Generate accurate, cost reflective estimates and produce design work packs to a high standard.
  • Effectively manage the team’s workload and keep the company informed of any potential resource constraints/requirements.
  • Work as a team player, contributing to ad-hoc tasks and developing additional skills where required.

Skills

  • Strong root cause analysis capabilities with a focus on troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and CAD software for creating detailed schematics and 3D models.
  • Experience managing projects with a clear understanding of project management principles and tools.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) programming and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Programming skills in Python, C++, MATLAB for automation, data analysis, and system simulation.
  • Expertise in systems engineering including system design, integration, validation, and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately; familiarity with GD&T standards.
  • Mechanical knowledge complemented by construction experience for practical implementation of designs.
  • Data analysis skills utilizing laboratory testing data to inform design improvements or troubleshoot issues.
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures for prototype validation and quality assurance purposes.

What we require

  • Minimum of a HND in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years demonstrable industry experience.
  • Be able to commute to the office a minimum of 2 days a week.
  • Full and clean Driving License.
