About the role
As a Shift Engineer, you'll play a key role in improving line efficiency by minimising unplanned stoppages and improving planned maintenance. You’ll lead continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with maintenance teams to ensure quick turnarounds and address recurring issues through root cause problem solving.
Your focus will be on increasing equipment uptime, driving performance in line with Diageo's standards, and ensuring health and safety compliance. Achieving site and personal KPIs will be a top priority as you contribute to our culture of manufacturing excellence.
Key responsibilities:
- Contributing to the achievement and improvement of Asset Care KPIs through the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem solving and improvement of assets and their availability across site.
- Contributing to the achievement and improvement of Asset Care KPIs through efficient maintenance, repairs, and problem-solving.
- Support improvement projects focused on compliance, waste reduction, cash savings, and performance reliability.
- Ensure effective information sharing, handovers, and teamwork, providing technical knowledge and collaborating with OEMs for solutions.
- Manage Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules, ensuring accurate completion to standards and SAP input.
- Support capital work, including installation, commissioning, and early equipment management; review RCM as needed.
- Work with Operators, Reliability Engineers, and Shift Managers on situational problem-solving using root cause analysis.
- Participate in Daily Tier meetings to address and resolve performance issues.
- Proactively anticipate and address issues, driving solutions with the wider engineering team.
- Conduct Daily Craft Inspections and collaborate with Shift Managers to optimize machine efficiency and perform repairs during downtime.
- Health and safety compliance is key, and you’ll be at the forefront of making sure this is monitored alongside ensuring both site and personal targets are achieved.

About You
We're seeking a qualified electrical engineer with experience in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment and a passion for improving asset performance. A proactive problem-solver, you thrive on identifying root causes, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.
- Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship and Electrical HNC (or equivalent qualification)
- 17th or 18th Edition qualified
- Knowledge of variable frequency drives, servo drives and motors, Asi bus, profibus and electro-pneumatics.
- PLC fault finding and diagnostic experience (preferred)
- Proven experience in a production, manufacturing, or FMCG environment
- Strong knowledge of electrical maintenance, asset care, and preventative maintenance practices
- Skilled in fault finding, root cause analysis, and implementing effective long-term solutions
- Collaborative team player with a focus on safety, performance, and achieving KPI targets through continuous improvement initiatives
