Location: North Wales
Contract: 6 months
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, fully on site
Pay Rate:
IR35: Inside IR35
Security Clearance: BPSS

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Engineering Technician to join an established engineering environment on a 6-month contract.

This is a hands-on, practical role suited to an experienced technician with a background in electrical engineering, avionics systems, cabling, or a similar engineering discipline. You will support ongoing engineering activities and work alongside experienced technicians, helping to deliver day-to-day technical tasks within a workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out practical engineering and technical activities.
  • Support experienced technicians with ongoing tasks and projects.
  • Undertake electrical, wiring, and cabling-related work.
  • Work with engineering and avionics systems where required.
  • Follow technical instructions, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and health and safety.
  • Follow COSHH procedures when handling chemicals.
  • Use appropriate PPE and equipment.
  • Work effectively as part of an engineering team.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous hands-on engineering experience.
  • A background in electrical engineering, electrical technician work, avionics systems, or cabling.
  • Practical experience working within an engineering or workshop environment.
  • A good understanding of basic electrical principles.
  • The ability to follow technical procedures and instructions.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
  • A practical, reliable, and safety-focused approach to work.

This role is not suitable for candidates who are just starting out in engineering. Practical, hands-on experience is essential.

A Level 3 qualification in engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline would be highly desirable. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Working Environment

This is a physically demanding role within an open workshop environment. You will be required to spend a significant amount of time on your feet and undertake activities including pushing, pulling, lifting, and handling equipment.

The environment can involve some noise, and there may be occasions where chemicals are handled in accordance with COSHH requirements. Appropriate PPE will be provided.

Reasonable adjustments can be accommodated where required.

Working Hours

Working hours will be agreed with the successful candidate's line manager and will fall within the following general times:

  • Start between 7:00am and 9:00am
  • Finish between 3:30pm and 6:00pm

A work pattern will be agreed onsite with the line manager as to actual hours as it will depend on what team you are going into.
