Your Role
As the Engineering Tools, Capability Manager, your mission is to develop, deploy, and continuously improve the software enabling engineering capabilities that enhances our R&D performance. In this role, you will focus on ensuring that the engineering teams are equipped with the right tools, systems, processes, and integrations to deliver products faster, to the required quality, and with target costs.
Acting as the bridge between engineering, IT, and external vendors, the role translates business and operational needs into practical, scalable software solutions and toolchains, driving efficiency, standardisation, and measurable performance improvement across the R&D lifecycle. You will report to Advanced Engineering Manager.
Your Responsibilities Include
- Define and deliver the engineering tools and digital capability roadmap, translating business needs into solutions that improve R&D performance, productivity, quality, and cost.
- Own and optimise the engineering software ecosystem, ensuring tools, systems, and integrations are standardised, scalable, and aligned to business requirements.
- Lead the selection, implementation, and adoption of engineering tools and digital solutions in partnership with Engineering, IT, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Establish governance, standards, and best practices to ensure effective lifecycle management, security, compliance, and consistent global ways of working.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement by leveraging emerging technologies, automation, AI, and digital engineering capabilities to enhance engineering effectiveness and accelerate product development.

To succeed, you will need

- Strong experience in engineering/R&D environments, ideally with exposure to software or digital toolchains
- Proven track record of improving engineering performance (speed, quality, cost)
- Experience implementing or managing engineering software tools, platforms, or ecosystems
- Ability to translate business and operational needs into practical digital solutions
- Strong ability to impact & influence: roadmap, prioritisation, benefits realisation, stakeholder management.
- Strong knowledge of engineering development lifecycle and artefacts (requirements, CAD metadata, test data, quality records, change control, etc.).
- Confidence operating with governance, risk, and data considerations (security, IP, privacy, validation).
- Strong stakeholder management skills across Engineering, IT, Procurement, and other business teams.
- Demonstrated success facilitating cross-functional workshops and driving ideas to implementation through clear leadership, and willing to take control of a situation and bring people with them even though they may not functionally report to them.
- High level of integrity and accountability with a results-driven mindset, able to set the standard, and hold people accountable to deliver
- A willing, helpful attitude, a calm professional manner, and the ability to assess and set priorities and deal with multiple issues on a regular basis, displaying clear, rational, and analytical approach to problem solving and planning, able to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
- Remains calm under pressure, demonstrates resilience, and can find creative and pragmatic solutions to business problems
- Willingness to travel to multiple Edwards’ locations nationally and internationally on an ad hoc basis

Job Location
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at one of our global entities.
