Overview

Join our engineering team as an Engineers Assistant/Engineers Mate and you will be supporting engineers on site across various engineering disciplines. This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a busy engineering service and maintenance environment while honing your technical skills and knowledge.

The Company

Due to the ongoing successful expansion of both our commercial enterprises; Spraybake Ltd, Commercial Spraybooths, and Thermalair Ltd, Commercial Heating and Ventilation, we are currently recruiting an Engineers Assistant/Mate to work alongside our multi-skilled Engineers.

Spraybake incorporated in 1968 carries out the supply, installation, service, and maintenance to varied paint spraying industries, be it automotive, commercial, aerospace, and including a significant amount of Ministry of Defence contracts.

Thermalair, celebrating 40 years trading, provides the supply, installation, service, and maintenance of Commercial Heating and Ventilation systems.

Our Heating and Ventilation business is based primarily around Essex and Suffolk, the Spraybooth business operates throughout the UK.

Job Description

The role as an Engineers Assistant is to accompany an Engineer, attend Customer sites, work side by side with, and learn the role of a Commercial Spraybooth Engineer.

Our Engineers are required to undertake planned Service and Maintenance (PPM) to our own Spraybake booths, and a range of other Spraybooth manufacturers, and attend reactive Call outs to investigate, diagnose and repair faults, to make safe/make good, replace parts, carry out repairs, refurbishments, and upgrades, and may also be involved in the installation of new Spraybooths and commissioning.

An Engineers Assistant would accompany the Engineer to any of these visits to help and assist. This is a hands-on practical role, assisting with visits and works, learning the job on site, receiving training as required, along with some office-based training which is generally Health and Safety training.

There may also be a requirement to attend, again along with an Engineer, our Commercial Heating Customers, again this could be planned service and maintenance or reactive call outs, repairs or new installation.

Essential Requirements

  • You will have a minimum of 3-5 years practical working experience
  • You must be a confident competent driver
  • Be able to work as part of a busy hard-working team
  • You will be inquisitive and motivated, and want to learn and understand the technical and engineering aspects of the role
  • Be prepared to make early starts and stay away from home for short periods, and be prepared to travel significant distances
  • Undertake training both on the job, and in the office, as required, and be willing to take instruction and learn new skills
  • Articulate, you might need to complete documentation and reports, handwritten or electronically in an accurate, clear, and concise and prompt manner
  • Be reliable, have an excellent attendance and time keeping record
  • Have a full, UK Driving Licence, with no more than 3 points
  • A Disclosure & Barring Service criminal record check (DBS check) and Security clearance checks will be required, as you will be working on security-controlled sites
  • Provide your Right to work in the UK, if applicable
