Role Description

The IELTS Teacher is a remote role responsible for delivering engaging and effective online IELTS lessons to learners of varying proficiency levels. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Teaching live group classes
  • Adapting provided lesson plans into teaching slides
  • Assessing learner progress against the official band descriptors
  • Providing constructive feedback on Writing and Speaking

The teacher will prepare students for both Academic and General Training, teach all four papers — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking — and work through real exam material live, explaining the reasoning behind each answer rather than simply providing keys. The role also involves:

  • Running breakout-room speaking practice
  • Maintaining accurate records of attendance and performance
  • Collaborating with academic staff to refine the curriculum
  • Ensuring that all online teaching adheres to institute standards and best practices

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience preparing learners for IELTS, with results you can speak to.
  • Experience teaching group classes, ideally in an online setting.
  • Working command of the official IELTS band descriptors — able to explain the difference between a band 6 and a band 7 answer.
  • Able to teach both Academic or General Training, and to explain where the two diverge.
  • Confident teaching all four papers, including question-type strategy for Listening and Reading.
  • Willing and able to adapt provided lesson plans into your own teaching slides. Our lessons are delivered visually; this is a core part of the role.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, DELTA, or similar teaching certification preferred.
  • Experience as an official IELTS examiner is strongly preferred, and compensated accordingly.
  • Comfort with remote teaching platforms, digital classroom tools, breakout rooms, and basic educational technology.
  • Strong organisational skills, reliability in a remote work setting, and a learner-centered teaching approach.
