Grass Roots Academic Support Seeks English Teacher / Secondary English Teacher

Grass Roots Academic Support is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced English Teacher / Secondary English Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a Qualified English Teacher or ECT to teach English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, engaging and motivating students while helping them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

As an English Teacher, You Will Be Responsible For

  • Planning and delivering engaging English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Teaching in line with the National Curriculum and adapting lessons to individual students’ abilities.
  • Assessing student progress and setting appropriate targets for improvement.
  • Using effective classroom and behaviour management strategies.
  • Engaging and motivating students to achieve their full potential.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing to the wider school community.
  • Supporting students to improve their academic achievement and develop their confidence in English.

Requirements

The Successful English Teacher Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4.
  • A proven teaching record and/or high-quality references.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to engage, motivate and inspire students.
  • A good understanding of the National Curriculum.
  • A current Enhanced DBS Disclosure, or willingness to complete a new DBS application where required.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • A commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal development.

This is an excellent opportunity for an English Teacher or Secondary English Teacher to join a successful school in Colchester. The role offers a competitive daily rate of £130–£220, initially for two terms on a full time basis.
