Flexible English and General Supply Teacher

Location: Torbay and surrounding areas

Start Date: September 2026

Are you a qualified educator seeking a balanced approach to your teaching career? We are seeking professional English and General Cover Teachers to join our network of secondary schools in Torbay starting in September 2026.

This role is ideal for those who value flexibility and professional autonomy: it requires zero planning, zero marking, and no preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • English Instruction: Deliver high-quality, pre-planned Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4) English lessons.
  • General Cover: Cover various subjects using comprehensive work sets provided by permanent staff.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a professional classroom environment and manage student behavior effectively.
  • Student Engagement: Foster an engaging, supportive atmosphere conducive to learning for all students.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Qualified Status: Must possess QTS, QTLS, or equivalent (Early Career Teachers are encouraged).
  • Skills: Strong classroom management skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new environments.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of the English secondary curriculum.
  • Background Check: Valid Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to obtain one).
