Farleigh School is looking to appoint a caring and enthusiastic English Teacher to join our Prep school. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality English lessons that inspire, challenge and engage pupils, enabling them to achieve their full potential in language and literature. The post holder will contribute to developing the English curriculum, promote a love of reading and learning, and support the school's wider aims and ethos.

We are seeking an individual to work full-time during term time.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Qualified teacher status (QTS) (or equivalent).
• Excellent subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.
• Proven ability to inspire and motivate pupils.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to coach sport or to offer extra-curricular activities.
• Experience of contributing to the wider school community.

Particular Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective English Language and English Literature lessons in KS2 and KS3, including preparation for Common Entrance.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports pupil achievement and wellbeing.
• Differentiate teaching strategies and resources to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND, EAL and those identified as more able.
• Set challenging learning objectives and monitor pupil progress against them.
• Promote high standards of literacy, communication and presentation across all aspects of learning.
• Assess, record and report on pupil progress in accordance with school policies.
• Provide regular, constructive feedback to pupils to support their development and achievement.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, attainment and behaviour.
• Contribute to the planning, review and development of schemes of work and curriculum resources.
• Keep up to date with developments in English education and curriculum requirements.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to raising standards of teaching and learning.
• Act as a Form Tutor (where applicable), supporting pupils' academic and personal development.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils in accordance with statutory guidance and school policies.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Encourage high standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality.
• Prepare pupils for internal and external examinations as appropriate.
• Mark and assess work in line with departmental and school requirements.
• Attend parents' evenings, review meetings and other events as required.
• Produce written reports on pupil achievement and progress.
• Participate fully in the life of the school community.
• Support extracurricular activities, including after school activities, educational visits and enrichment opportunities.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, INSET days and other school events.
• Undertake reasonable additional duties as requested by the Headteacher.
• Carry out duties in accordance with the Teachers' Standards and any relevant professional codes of practice.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
• Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity.
• Engage in continuing professional development and performance management processes.
• Any other duties which may be assigned commensurate with the post and in keeping with the nature of the Prep school environment.
