Role Description

The English Teacher role at Blackwater Academy is a full-time, on-site position based in Birmingham. The teacher will plan, deliver, and assess engaging English lessons across appropriate key stages, adapting content to meet varied learning needs and abilities. Daily responsibilities include:

The role involves maintaining a positive classroom environment, managing behavior consistently, and supporting the emotional and academic development of students. The English Teacher will collaborate with colleagues, participate in staff meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and engage with parents and guardians as needed.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong English Teaching and general Teaching skills, with experience engaging diverse learners.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Lesson Planning and Education, including curriculum development and assessment design.
  • Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent) and subject-specialist training in English.
  • Experience working in alternative or inclusive educational settings is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage classroom behavior positively and support students with varied social, emotional, and academic needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
