English Teaching Assistant
Salary: £20,456–£22,713 per annum
Location: Epsom, Surrey, UK
Hours: Full-time, term time only (36 weeks)

Overview
Our client, a further education college, is seeking an English Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one and small-group support to students studying GCSE English and Functional Skills English.
You will help students build confidence, strengthen their exam skills and make progress through targeted learning support and motivational techniques. The role also includes monitoring student performance, providing feedback to teaching staff and supervising classes undertaking set work when required.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support in GCSE English and Functional Skills English.
- Help students build confidence and develop their English and exam skills.
- Use motivational learning techniques to encourage engagement and progress.
- Monitor how students are performing and provide appropriate support to help them improve.
- Assist students with completing tasks and check that work is being completed correctly.
- Provide teaching staff with feedback on student progress.
- Supervise classes completing pre-set work during lecturer absence.

Requirements
- Recent UK experience supporting both individual students and small groups.
- Recent experience of GCSE English and Functional Skills English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a motivated, creative approach to supporting learning.
- Ability to encourage students and help develop their confidence and exam skills.

Desirable
- Recent experience working with students aged 16–18.
- Experience supporting young people with English.
