English Tutor (Remote, Part-Time) — StudySmiths

Role Description

The English Tutor role at StudySmiths is a part-time, remote position focused on delivering high-quality online lessons to GCSE and A-Level students.

  • Planning and delivering engaging English Language and Literature lessons tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Explaining complex concepts clearly and helping students develop confidence in their abilities.
  • Supporting key skills including essay writing, analysis, comprehension, grammar, and exam technique.
  • Assessing student progress and adapting teaching strategies to maximise improvement.
  • Creating exam-style resources, practice questions, and independent study materials.
  • Providing constructive feedback to students and, where appropriate, parents or guardians.
  • Maintaining clear communication through our online learning platform.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for exceptional individuals to join our small, growing team.

Successful applicants will:

  • Be currently studying at a top UK university.
  • Have achieved A* grades at A-Level (essential).
  • Have a strong academic background in English or a related subject.
  • Have previous tutoring or teaching experience, ideally supporting GCSE and/or A-Level students.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students.
  • Be able to simplify complex ideas and explain concepts in an engaging way.
  • Have strong organisation skills and the ability to manage lesson planning independently.
  • Be comfortable delivering lessons remotely using online teaching platforms.
  • Have a reliable internet connection and a professional approach to online tutoring.
