English Tutor (Full-time) | Havering | September 2026
Are you a highly motivated and enthusiastic English Tutor looking to gain valuable experience in education before pursuing teacher training?
Two successful secondary schools in Havering (Upminster and Hornchurch) are seeking a confident and ambitious English Tutor to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an English Tutor to work within a supportive school environment while building the skills and experience needed for a future career in teaching.
As an English Tutor, you will support students from Year 7 to Year 11, delivering 1:1 and small group interventions to help raise attainment and confidence in Literature and Language. The successful English Tutor will work closely with experienced teachers and gain hands-on classroom experience within a high-achieving and inclusive school community.

The school is looking for an English Tutor who:
- Holds a degree in English Language, English Literature or History from a leading UK university
- Has strong subject knowledge in English (knowledge in Maths is preferred but not essential)
- Is passionate about supporting young people in education
- Can inspire and motivate students of all abilities
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Is considering a future career in teaching
