The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Endoscopy Unit that provides a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and acute upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures for both in-patients and out-patients. Working alongside a highly skilled and motivated multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the smooth running of the service. Knowledge of Endoscopy, General Surgery, and Gastroenterology would be advantageous.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Permanent Role - 25.9 Hours per week
- Location - New Victoria Hospital ACH
- Shift Pattern - To be discussed to meet service needs
Key Responsibilities
As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will support registered nursing staff by carrying out a range of direct and indirect patient care duties within the Endoscopy Unit. You will provide specialist care to patients before, during, and after procedures, assist in maintaining a safe and clean clinical environment, support patient admissions and discharges, undertake patient observations, ensure specimens are accurately labelled and dispatched, maintain stock and equipment levels, and contribute to the delivery of high standards of care. The role also involves assisting during endoscopic procedures, supporting recovery areas, adhering to infection prevention and control procedures, maintaining patient confidentiality, and participating in staff induction, training, and ongoing professional development activities.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
Essential
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Commitment to personal development and continuous learning within the role.
- Ability to undertake direct and indirect patient care duties in a busy clinical environment.
- Knowledge and understanding developed through practical experience and on-the-job learning.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Endoscopy, General Surgery, and Gastroenterology.
- Completion of a relevant training and/or competency programme.
- Experience working within an endoscopy, surgical, or gastroenterology setting.
- Understanding of patient care before, during, and after endoscopic procedures.
