Enterprise Architect – Birmingham
Shape enterprise architecture strategy and help deliver technology change at scale.
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to develop, design, implement and govern enterprise architecture across a complex organisation, ensuring technology is closely aligned with business objectives and future transformation plans.
Location and salary
Birmingham: £54,878 to £64,562 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
London: £59,268 to £69,727 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
In addition, a flexible benefits fund of 20% is paid on top of base salary and is fully pensionable, alongside a range of competitive benefits. Hybrid working 2 days a week on site
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping architectural direction, establishing principles and guardrails, and supporting the successful delivery of business and technology change across a major, multi-vendor environment.
About the role
As Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for developing and governing enterprise-wide architecture principles, policies, patterns, processes and guardrails. You will ensure alignment between business strategies, enterprise transformation activity and technology direction, while supporting the continued maturity of agile enterprise architecture practices.

Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing enterprise architecture principles, policies, standards, processes and guardrails.
- Creating and reviewing enterprise capability strategies to support strategic requirements.
- Defining and supporting the maturity of agile enterprise architecture frameworks and domain architectures, including data, security, network and integration.
- Capturing and prioritising market trends, environmental trends, business strategies and objectives to support technology strategy and roadmaps.
- Developing architectural artefacts in line with agreed strategy, policy and standards.
- Translating business drivers, goals and constraints into clear business objectives and required capabilities.
- Upholding architecture guardrails across solution and system design and across architecture domains.
- Contributing expertise and ideas to the technology innovation agenda.
- Supporting Business Analysts with requirements capture and Delivery Managers with IT change delivery.
- Actively promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in all work and supporting relevant organisational policies and initiatives.

Enterprise and business architecture:
- Able to translate business drivers, goals and constraints into business objectives and define capabilities that meet strategic needs.

Governance and assurance:
- Able to understand technical governance and support assurance activity.
Problem definition and shaping:
- Aware of strategic context and able to support strategic planning.
Agile working:
- Able to coach and lead teams in Agile and Lean practices.
Stakeholder communication:
- Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and manage expectations.
Knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of agile methods and their implications for enterprise architecture.
- Understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies and best practice, such as TOGAF or the Zachman Framework.
- Awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, big data and other disruptive technologies.
- Experience supporting the design and implementation of IT services and architectural building blocks.
- Experience developing complex solution designs and supporting high-level designs for major solutions.
- Experience maintaining design control processes.
- Experience across the full project lifecycle.
- Experience using enterprise architecture tooling.
- Experience working in multi-vendor environments.
- Ability to build strong relationships with business and technology partners.
