Southern Water is recruiting for the role of Enterprise Architect – Waste. The Enterprise Architect – Waste guides business and technology leaders in shaping and delivering digital and business strategy. The role focuses on future-focused enterprise architecture, alignment across teams, and turning strategy into roadmaps, standards and governance.

What you’ll do
- Identify disruptive forces, trends and market changes that affect enterprise strategy.
- Translate business strategy into architectural roadmaps and viable business and operating models.
- Give senior, context-specific architectural advice and lead discussions on risk, strategy and investment decisions.
- Lead and mentor architects, and work with governance bodies to resolve cross-team conflicts.
- Develop business architecture artefacts and diagnostic outputs to support investment decisions.
- Analyse current and future capabilities to identify gaps, improvement opportunities and change needed for digital transformation.
- Develop enterprise architecture roadmaps and analyse the IT landscape for deficiencies, optimisation and modernisation.
- Define and apply standards, patterns and guardrails to support delivery teams.

- Extensive experience in enterprise architecture in a mature architecture practice.
- Experience of working across multiple industries in an architecture role.
- Experience using IT data and external insight to support decision making and communicate direction.
- Ability to simplify complex problems through storytelling and slides.
- Strong knowledge of business models, operating models and technology ecosystems.
- Deep understanding of cloud, SaaS, APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures and integration patterns.
- Strong awareness of emerging technologies, innovation practices and digital transformation trends.
- Experience with application catalogues and EA tooling.

Additional role information
- TOGAF, BCS or equivalent architecture qualifications are desirable.
- Cloud architecture certifications in Azure are desirable.
- The role involves shaping EA operating models and governance mechanisms with CIO and IT leadership.
