Job Description
Are you passionate about shaping how organisations use, govern and evolve their data? Does the idea of working with public sector and regulated clients to turn complex business needs into clear domain models and sustainable data architectures excite you? If yes, then read on!
We are looking for an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to help shape enterprise data capabilities for our clients. You will define and maintain data domains, information structures, modelling standards and transition designs that connect business outcomes to governed, implementable data solutions. This role is suited to someone who can advise client stakeholders, lead a small team or workstream and remain close enough to delivery to ensure architecture decisions are practical and adopted.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to data strategies, principles, target architectures and transition roadmaps aligned to business outcomes
- Define and maintain business-aligned data domains and conceptual, logical and physical models, including canonical, analytical, shared and reference-data patterns
- Translate business requirements into data architecture designs, data products, contracts and interoperability guidance
- Apply and improve enterprise data standards while maintaining architecture models, decisions and traceability within enterprise repositories
- Support data ownership, stewardship and federated governance approaches, clarifying global and domain decision rights
- Embed data quality, metadata, lineage, classification, privacy, traceability and auditability into architecture and delivery
- Shape shared-identifier, master-data and reference-data approaches for defined domains or workstreams
- Shape data migration and modelling transition approaches, including source-to-target mapping, reconciliation, dependencies, coexistence and phased cutover
- Work with platform and solution architects to translate domain and logical models into implementable cloud schemas, pipelines, lakehouse, warehouse and integration patterns
- Lead small teams or workstreams, communicate trade-offs to client stakeholders and mentor architects, analysts and engineers
Essential Skills
- Proven experience (5+ years) in enterprise or domain data architecture, information architecture, data modelling and delivery
- Experience defining data domains and conceptual, logical and physical models that align business concepts with technology implementation
- Experience applying canonical, analytical, shared and reference-data patterns appropriately rather than forcing one model across every use case
- Experience contributing to data strategies, principles, standards, target states and transition roadmaps
- Strong understanding of data ownership, stewardship, data products, contracts and federated governance in enterprise environments
- Experience applying data management disciplines including governance, data quality, metadata and lineage, with emphasis on traceability and auditability
- Experience designing data architectures that meet regulatory, privacy, security, classification and retention requirements
- Experience supporting data migration or system modernisation, including source-to-target mapping, reconciliation, quality controls, coexistence and cutover planning
- Understanding of how domain and logical models translate into physical cloud implementations, including schemas, pipelines, integration, lakehouse and warehouse patterns
- Ability to work across business and technology teams and explain modelling, governance and implementation trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience leading a small team or workstream and delivering agreed outcomes to time, cost and quality expectations
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks, resolve ambiguity and identify pragmatic solutions
- Experience supporting and mentoring architects, analysts or engineers
- You will be required to hold active SC clearance for this role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
