Nixor are supporting a major UK financial services organisation as they build out a new Group Data & AI Office, and we're looking for an Enterprise Data Modelling Lead to help shape the Enterprise Data Model that will sit at the heart of it.
This is fundamentally a hands-on data design role.

As part of a brand-new Data & AI Office, you'll be joining at a point where there is still a genuine opportunity to influence how enterprise data is designed, structured and governed across the organisation.
Rather than inheriting a mature model and simply maintaining it, you'll help shape and evolve the Enterprise Data Model, establish modelling standards and create the trusted data foundations that future analytics, reporting, data products and AI initiatives will be built upon.
It's an opportunity to combine hands-on data modelling with genuine influence – working across different areas of the business, alongside Architects, Data Engineers and Data Governance teams, to create a consistent view of some of the organisation's most important data.
You'll work across different business domains to define how enterprise data should be structured – identifying the core business entities, attributes and relationships and creating consistent models that can be reused across the organisation.

You'll take data from multiple source systems and help establish a common, trusted enterprise view, creating the models and mappings that Data Engineers can then turn into working data products.
The Enterprise Data Model sits at the heart of a modern Databricks Lakehouse / Medallion architecture, ultimately providing trusted data for analytics, BI, reporting, data science and AI.
What will you actually be doing?
You'll be responsible for things such as:
- Designing and expanding the Enterprise Data Model
- Creating conceptual, logical and physical data models
- Designing models around business domains such as Customer, Product and other core enterprise entities
- Developing canonical data models that standardise data coming from different systems
- Producing detailed source-to-target mappings
- Defining entities, attributes, relationships, business definitions and naming standards
- Creating and maintaining ERDs, metadata and data lineage
- Working with Data Governance teams to ensure models are trusted, understood and appropriately controlled
- Working closely with Data Engineers and Architects to translate designs into production data products
- Helping establish modelling standards and reusable design patterns across the new Data & AI capability

What are we looking for?
We're particularly interested in people who enjoy designing data structures rather than simply working with data. You'll ideally have strong experience across enterprise data modelling, conceptual and logical modelling, domain or canonical models and source-to-target mapping, together with an understanding of metadata, lineage and data governance.
Experience with modelling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, Sparx EA or PowerDesigner would be particularly useful.
You don't need to be a hands-on Data Engineer, but you'll need to understand how your designs translate into real data products and be comfortable working closely with the engineers responsible for building them.
The package
Up to £90,000 basic salary, plus 12% bonus and up to 21% pension.
The role is based in Edinburgh, with a 50% hybrid working pattern.
