Reporting to: Lead Solution Architect
The Role
As our Enterprise Integration & Automation Engineer, you’ll build and maintain the integrations and automation solutions that connect applications, data platforms and business processes across the organisation.
You’ll create secure, reliable and scalable solutions using APIs, event-driven architecture, messaging, file transfers and workflow automation. Working closely with the Lead Solution Architect, Data Engineer and Software Engineers, you’ll help information move seamlessly between systems while reducing manual processes and improving data quality.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on enterprise integrations and automation rather than solution architecture, project delivery or application ownership.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing, developing and maintaining integrations between enterprise systems.
- Building secure and scalable RESTful APIs, web services and reusable integration components.
- Developing event-driven, message-based, real-time, batch and file-based integrations.
- Creating data transformation, mapping and validation logic.
- Designing workflow automation that reduces manual effort and improves operational efficiency.
- Configuring and maintaining middleware and enterprise integration platforms.
- Managing API authentication, authorisation, versioning and lifecycle requirements.
- Supporting reliable data synchronisation across ERP, CRM, SaaS and data platforms.
- Monitoring integration performance, availability and data integrity.
- Investigating failures, resolving incidents and implementing proactive monitoring and alerting.
- Maintaining source control, automated deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
- Producing clear technical documentation and maintaining integration specifications.
- Applying secure coding practices, integration design patterns and engineering standards.
- Participating in peer reviews and contributing to reusable integration frameworks.
- Working with internal teams, software vendors and external partners to deliver effective integrations.
About You
You’ll have:
- Experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise integrations.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, XML and web services.
- Experience working with middleware or enterprise integration platforms.
- Experience developing event-driven and message-based solutions.
- Knowledge of authentication technologies including OAuth2, OpenID Connect and JWT.
- Experience building secure, resilient and scalable integration services.
- Experience using Azure DevOps or an equivalent platform.
- Good knowledge of source control, Git and CI/CD practices.
- Experience working across multiple business applications and data sources.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within an Agile engineering or delivery environment.
- The ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
