What you will do
- Define and maintain a multi-quarter product roadmap covering currency, resilience, security improvements, automation, and consumer experience.
- Own platform lifecycle management across the estate, including standard versions, upgrade plans, deprecation and exit strategies, and technical debt prioritisation.
- Shape and prioritise demand using transparent criteria including risk reduction, service stability, regulatory requirements, cost, and customer impact.
- Set and maintain standards and reference patterns for IBM MQ, including configuration baselines, connectivity patterns, TLS/mTLS, authorisation, auditing, and logging.
- Set and maintain standards for ACE integration patterns, deployment and runtime standards, and operational governance.
- Set and maintain standards for ITX map governance, version control, runtime deployment, and controls.
- Set and maintain ITM and Instana standards covering monitoring coverage, alert policies, dashboards, noise reduction, and actionable alerts.
- Lead governance forums to manage exceptions, reduce fragmentation, and improve time-to-deliver for consuming teams.
- Maintain product documentation and service catalogue entries, ensuring clarity around supported services and consumption methods.
- Own service health outcomes covering availability, stability, performance, capacity, and resilience.
- Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and KPIs, including incident trends, MTTR, change failure rate, and platform performance indicators.
- Lead major incident reviews and drive root cause elimination.
- Drive problem management, reliability engineering initiatives, and runbook maturity.
- Define, test, and evidence disaster recovery and high-availability expectations.
- Convert the roadmap into a prioritised backlog and delivery plan with engineering, SRE/operations, and programme partners.
- Lead delivery of platform initiatives, including upgrades, migrations, monitoring rollouts, automation, and hardening.
- Ensure changes meet non-functional requirements and progress through appropriate change and release governance with clear consumer communications.
- Maintain the platform security posture through patching, vulnerability remediation, secure configuration, access controls, and certificate lifecycle management.
- Own and manage product risk items and remediation plans.
- Support audits by providing evidence and driving findings through to closure.
- Partner with cybersecurity, architecture, and risk teams to design and implement compliant solutions.
- Act as the primary senior interface for application teams, architecture, operations/SRE, cybersecurity, and service management stakeholders.
- Communicate roadmap, standards, service health, and key changes clearly while managing expectations and dependencies across teams.
- Drive improvements to consumer onboarding and adoption through templates, reference implementations, and enablement.
- Manage IBM and tooling vendor relationships, including support case escalations and roadmap alignment.
- Own licensing and cost management, including utilisation analysis, renewal planning, optimisation, and waste avoidance.
- Set platform standards and approve or decline non-standard implementations through established governance.
- Prioritise backlog items and sequence delivery against available capacity and risk.
- Manage large-scale, multi-region deployments across multiple geographies and time zones, including operating model alignment, follow-the-sun support, regional standardisation, and regulatory or latency constraints.
- Track product success measures, including high-severity incident reduction, repeat issue reduction, MTTR improvement, supported-version coverage, patch and vulnerability compliance, monitoring and observability coverage, alert-noise reduction, cost optimisation, roadmap delivery, and consumer satisfaction.

Qualifications
- Bring strong experience in product or service management for enterprise platforms, particularly middleware, integration, messaging, monitoring, or observability platforms, ideally within a regulated environment.
- Possess deep knowledge of IBM MQ and solid working knowledge of ACE, ITX, and observability tools such as ITM, Instana, or equivalent technologies.
- Offer a proven track record in platform lifecycle management, including upgrade programmes, standardisation, deprecation, and technical debt management.
- Apply a strong operational mindset across incident and problem management, capacity planning, resilience, high availability, disaster recovery, and SLI/SLO-based performance management.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence across multiple teams and senior stakeholders.
- Have experience managing large-scale, multi-region deployments of messaging, integration, and observability platforms across multiple geographies and time zones.
- Understand operating model alignment, including follow-the-sun support, regional standardisation, and management of regional regulatory and latency constraints.
- Possess proven delivery experience with IBM MQ within a complex enterprise estate supporting hundreds or thousands of queue managers or a large application population.
- Exhibit strong decision-making, prioritisation, governance, and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
- Manage platform risk, compliance, security requirements, vendor relationships, licensing, and cost optimisation effectively.
- Be eligible for BPSS clearance.
