Enterprise Risk Director – Specialty Insurance
London | Hybrid
We are looking for an experienced Enterprise Risk Director with a strong background in specialty insurance and the Lloyd’s market to join a growing risk advisory team.
This is a senior role for someone who understands the realities of operating within complex insurance businesses and can work with senior leaders to navigate some of their most important risk, resilience and change priorities.
You will work closely with a portfolio of specialty insurance clients, helping them understand and respond to enterprise and operational risks, strengthen their risk frameworks and governance, and deliver meaningful change across their organisations.
This is not a role focused purely on risk frameworks or producing reports. You will be expected to bring perspective, challenge constructively, lead complex initiatives and work alongside senior stakeholders to get things done.
The Role
You will lead a range of assignments across the specialty insurance market, with a particular focus on enterprise risk, operational risk and operational resilience.
Your work will vary depending on the needs of your clients and could include:
- Reviewing and enhancing enterprise risk management frameworks, risk appetite and governance arrangements.
- Supporting CROs, COOs and senior leadership teams with strategic and emerging risk priorities.
- Leading operational risk and control framework reviews, including RCSAs, risk identification and assessment, risk appetite and management information.
- Designing and delivering operational resilience programmes, including important business services, impact tolerances, scenario testing and resilience assessments.
- Supporting clients through significant regulatory, organisational or business change.
- Leading thematic risk reviews, control assessments, risk transformation and remediation programmes.
- Assessing the effectiveness of risk operating models, governance and three-lines arrangements.
- Supporting major transformation programmes where risk, governance, controls and resilience are critical to successful delivery.
- Providing independent challenge and practical recommendations to senior management and boards.
- Bringing together multiple stakeholders across underwriting, claims, operations, technology, finance, compliance and risk.
- Taking ownership of complex projects from initial problem definition through to delivery and implementation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
