Senior Enterprise Risk Manager – Investment Management

London | Hybrid
£80,000–£110,000

An established financial services organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Enterprise Risk Manager to a broad second-line position supporting an investment-focused business.

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a small, collaborative risk team, where seniority does not mean stepping away from delivery. The successful individual will have considerable exposure across the business and will be expected to combine credible challenge of senior stakeholders with hands-on ownership of risk activity.

Rather than focusing on one narrow risk discipline, the position offers a broad remit across enterprise and non-financial risk, with exposure to the risks associated with an investment business.

The opportunity

You will take responsibility for a range of enterprise risk activities, helping ensure that the organisation has an effective and proportionate approach to identifying, assessing, monitoring and managing its key risks.

Your responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Owning and improving elements of the enterprise risk framework and associated methodology
  • Reviewing the organisation's principal risks and the effectiveness of the controls used to manage them
  • Developing risk appetite measures, indicators and management information
  • Maintaining effective risk assessments and supporting business areas with their risk and control activity
  • Identifying new or changing risks and considering their potential impact on the organisation
  • Reviewing incidents and control weaknesses, identifying underlying causes and ensuring appropriate actions are taken
  • Producing clear risk analysis and reporting for senior stakeholders and governance forums
  • Working closely with colleagues across the investment business and wider organisation
  • Providing independent second-line review and constructive challenge
  • Supporting improvements to risk processes, governance and management information
  • Leading individual risk initiatives from initial analysis through to implementation
  • Contributing to the continued development of the organisation's overall approach to risk management

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Your background

We are looking for an experienced Enterprise Risk professional from financial services. Experience gained within an investment-related environment would be particularly relevant, including asset or wealth management, pensions, insurance investment functions or other organisations managing significant investment portfolios.

You are likely to have worked in a second-line capacity and should be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders while retaining the independence required of a risk oversight role.

The position requires someone who can move comfortably between high-level risk discussions and detailed delivery. You should therefore be able to demonstrate occasions where you have personally developed, improved or implemented risk processes rather than simply overseeing work undertaken by a larger team.

Relevant experience could include:

  • Enterprise and operational risk frameworks
  • Risk and control assessments
  • Risk appetite and risk indicators
  • Controls and assurance
  • Risk events and incident analysis
  • Management and committee reporting
  • Emerging and evolving risk identification
  • Governance and policy development
  • Risk systems, data and reporting tools

Evidence of having improved an existing risk framework or strengthened the way risk is managed in practice would be particularly valuable.

Why consider the role?

The attraction is the combination of breadth, ownership and visibility.

This is not a large-team environment where responsibilities are divided between numerous risk specialists. You will be expected to take ownership, work directly with stakeholders and deliver much of the work yourself.

For someone who enjoys a hands-on enterprise risk role within an investment environment, it provides the opportunity to influence how risk management develops while maintaining regular exposure to senior decision-makers and the underlying business.
