Solutions / Enterprise Architect | Permanent | £75,000 – £85,000
I'm working with an exciting group growing through ongoing mergers and acquisitions, and they're creating a brand new Architect role to bring order and direction to a fast-changing technology landscape.
This is a rare chance to build an architecture function rather than inherit one. You'll own the top-down view of applications, capabilities and integrations across the group, set the standards and design principles, and act as design authority as new systems come in.
What you'll be doing:
- Documenting the current environment, then shaping architectural standards and governance for the future
- Owning the application inventory, capability maps and integration maps
- Architecting how new solutions fit into the wider organisation
- Managing architectural risk and challenging decisions constructively
- Working with senior stakeholders and technical teams alike

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why this role?
This is a rare chance to build and shape an architecture function from the ground up rather than inherit a mature one. You'll have genuine ownership of the enterprise-wide architectural view, with exposure to both enterprise and solution architecture, and the constant M&A activity means plenty of variety and complexity. You'll work regularly with leadership-level stakeholders, and it's a strong step up the architecture career path.
