Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) — ID8 Ideas Exchange
Help founders turn promising ideas into customer proof
Every founder deserves a fair chance to test an idea, reach customers and build a better future. ID8 Ideas Exchange is building a more practical, inclusive way for founders to learn what customers need and what it takes to move an idea forward.
We’re looking for an Entrepreneur in Residence to bring lived startup experience into that work and help shape our Lead User Board.
What you’ll contribute
- Share first-hand insight into the challenges of building a startup, especially finding first customers, testing demand, converting investor interest, pursuing grants or coordinating product feedback.
- Help us examine what founders actually do when they hit these challenges: the trigger, the workaround, what fails and what they need next.
- Take part in practical discussions with founders and help shape ID8’s discovery tools, support and community.
- Challenge our assumptions and help us make the experience useful, clear and fair for founders.
- Where it feels right, introduce other founders or ecosystem partners who can add a valuable perspective.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You may be a strong fit if you are
- A current or recent founder, Entrepreneur in Residence, venture builder or founder associate.
- Applying to, or recently involved with, a founder fellowship, accelerator or pre-accelerator—and actively building a venture of your own.
- A solo, first-time founder with an MVP and little or no revenue.
- Able to talk about a recent customer, investor, grant or feedback attempt—including the workaround you used and what happened.
- Curious, generous with insight and willing to challenge ideas constructively.
Experience matters more than job title. Applicants to EIR, accelerator or Founder Associate roles are especially welcome when they can also bring recent, first-hand founder experience.
