About Sage
Sage is expanding, and we're training the managers who will be part of the growth.
Sage builds its leaders from within rather than looking for a finished product. Every manager here started where you're about to, learning the business hands-on before taking responsibility for people and results. If you want a role where progression is earned through what you deliver, not how long you've clocked in, this is a serious place to start a career in Birmingham.
We're a growth-focused company with clear plans on the table: two new UK offices opening in Leeds and London, and a US launch scheduled for 2027. That expansion needs capable managers ready to step up, which is exactly why we invest in developing people from the ground floor.
What the Role Involves
This is a structured trainee pathway with genuine responsibility, not shadowing. Over your first months you'll get practical grounding in:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
