I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
So, what are you actually doing?
A bit of everything.
You’ll help represent marketing campaigns, speak directly with customers, explain products or services, answer questions, and help identify what each customer is looking for.
You’ll also support promotional activity, keep track of customer information, follow up on opportunities, and work with the wider team to help campaigns generate new business.
During quieter periods, there’s still plenty to do. That could mean preparing marketing materials, reviewing campaign information, organizing customer records, helping with promotional planning, or getting ready for the next campaign.
You’ll fit in well if you’re:
- Friendly and confident speaking with different people
- Interested in sales, marketing, and customer psychology
- Comfortable starting conversations rather than waiting for customers to approach you
- Motivated by goals and seeing the results of your work
- Reliable and professional
- Happy working as part of a team
- Willing to learn, take feedback, and improve
- Comfortable working in a customer-facing environment
