The Opportunity

TR Construction Group is hiring a motivated entry-level plumber to learn the trade hands-on while building the documented hours required for WSSC journeyman licensure. You will work under the direction of a WSSC-licensed Master Plumber, assisting on residential service calls, installations, and repairs while developing the skills, code knowledge, and experience to advance.

What You'll Do

  • Assist licensed plumbers with installation, maintenance, and repair of water supply, drainage, waste, vent, and gas piping systems.
  • Help diagnose plumbing issues and learn proper repair methods under supervision.
  • Assist with sewer and drain cleaning services.
  • Prepare job sites, stage materials and tools, and keep a clean, safe work area.
  • Cut, thread, solder, and assemble pipe and fittings as directed.
  • Load, unload, and organize the service vehicle and inventory.
  • Document work performed, materials used, and hours toward licensure.
  • Interact courteously and professionally with customers in their homes.
  • Follow all OSHA safety practices and the WSSC plumbing code.

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Reliable ability to commute to job sites across Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn.

Compensation

  • Hourly: $17–$25 / hour, with periodic increases as hours and skills progress (subject to applicable Maryland and Montgomery County minimum-wage floors).
  • Salary equivalent: ~$36,000–$52,000 / year.
  • Overtime: time-and-a-half (1.5×) for hours over 40 per week.
  • Recommended structure: hourly base plus spiffs.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; occasionally more with assistance.
  • Work in confined spaces, crawl spaces, attics, and trenches.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods.
  • Work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
