Trainee Recruitment Consultant – US Market (Data Centre Construction)
Location: Central London (office-based)
Hours: 10.30 am – 7.30 pm Monday to Thursday (aligned to US East Coast); standard UK hours on Fridays
Salary: £26,000 basic + uncapped commission + full training
Most graduate recruitment jobs put you on the phone to UK hiring managers, fighting over the same candidates as fifty other agencies. This one doesn't.
We are working exclusively with a specialist recruitment firm that places construction and engineering talent into US data centre construction – one of the fastest-growing sectors on the planet. Hyperscale cloud providers, general contractors and MEP specialists are building at unprecedented pace and cannot find people fast enough. Our client sits in the middle of that, with offices in London and on the US East Coast, and is hiring 2025 and 2026 graduates into its London office as Trainee Recruitment Consultants working US hours.
Why recruit in the US rather than the UK or Europe?
- Bigger fees. US construction and engineering salaries are significantly higher than UK equivalents, and fee percentages are typically higher too. A placement billing £8,000–£10,000 in London can bill $25,000–$40,000+ in the States. Your commission is a percentage of that.
- A market that is actually growing. US data centre spend runs into hundreds of billions of dollars a year and is still accelerating. Project managers, superintendents, commissioning engineers and estimators are in chronic short supply. You will be selling into demand, not manufacturing it.
- Less saturation. UK graduate recruitment is crowded and mature. The US mission-critical construction space is far less contested from a London desk, and clients there value a consultative specialist over a CV-flinging service.
- Faster deals. US employers move quicker, hire on shorter notice periods (often two weeks, not three months) and use agencies readily. Deals close faster, so you get paid and learn faster.
- A genuine specialism. You become an expert in a niche, technical, high-value sector. Two or three years in, you will be one of very few people in London who understands this market.

What you will be doing
- Sourcing and speaking with US construction and engineering professionals – project managers, superintendents, MEP specialists, estimators and commissioning leads
- Building relationships with hiring managers at data centre owners, general contractors and specialist subcontractors
- Learning the full cycle: market mapping, headhunting, qualifying, managing interviews and closing offers
- Progressing to your own patch, your own clients and full commission earning potential

Who we are looking for
- A 2025 or 2026 graduate – any degree discipline
- Able and willing to work 10.30 am – 7.30 pm, Monday to Thursday, to overlap with the US East Coast (Fridays are standard UK hours). If you are not a morning person, this is an advantage
- Competitive, resilient and money-motivated – you want to be judged on results and paid accordingly
- A confident communicator, comfortable calling senior people you have never spoken to
- Organised and self-disciplined – the US market rewards people who follow up
- An interest in construction, engineering or infrastructure is a bonus, not essential
