MCD Ground Solutions is an industry leading support services company, providing the construction sector with a range of site investigation services. We undertake drilling, in-situ testing, technical labour, sampling, monitoring and surveying throughout the UK.

We are currently looking for a trainee level ground investigation site testing technician to be a permanent member of the MCD team! We are looking for a competent, hard-working individual who enjoys working in an outdoor environment. We welcome individuals who are eager to learn new skills, including the ability to use a range of high-spec in-situ testing and geotechnical drilling equipment and who are happy to work in a fast-paced, ever-growing industry. They will be joining our small team of friendly and enthusiastic technicians.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Our site technicians will be working on various outdoor sites identified for future development, currently being developed or other environments such as highways and MOD bases. They will be working as part of a team and reporting to a senior technician, who will also provide guidance and training, following our set training plan.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • On-site ground investigations to include:
    • Second man on a window sampling drilling rig
    • Hand dug excavations
    • Foundation/utility inspection pits
    • Breaking out/reinstatement
    • Vegetation clearance
    • General site duties

For the right candidate, there will be opportunities to progress to Window Sampling Drilling as a lead driller or on-site testing such as Plate Load Testing.
