Job Description

Ready to make a real impact on how environmental standards shape a new generation of nuclear energy? Join us at Hinkley Point C, where your expertise will help build and protect a more sustainable future. At EDF, Success is Personal.

The Opportunity

As a Pre-Operations Environment Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the environmental capability for one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. You’ll help set the standards for environmental compliance and performance, influencing safe and responsible operations for years to come, supporting our journey towards An Electric Britain.

You’ll join us on a competitive salary depending on knowledge, skills & experience. This role is based across our HPC site and associated offices (AztecWest, SatelliteDeliveryCentre, GloucesterBusinessPark), with a hybrid pattern of three days on site each week. In future, this role will transition into full-time on-site working at HPC.

Working across technical and safety teams, you’ll gain exposure to diverse disciplines while building expertise in environmental management. From influencing design and commissioning to preparing operational readiness, your work will directly support long-term environmental protection and compliance.

Who You Are

We’re looking for an Environment Engineer who can work independently, influence stakeholders, and build strong working relationships across complex teams. You’re proactive, collaborative, and confident communicating environmental requirements across a large organisation. To be shortlisted, you need to offer:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
