Health & Safety Manager

£65,000 + Company Car | Swadlincote | Nationwide Travel

D7 Recruitment are working with an established client to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of the health and safety function across the business.

This is a broad role offering the opportunity to work closely with senior management and operational teams, ensuring the business remains compliant while continuing to improve health and safety standards, processes and culture.

The Role

As Health & Safety Manager, you will lead the day-to-day health and safety function while also developing and implementing the wider health and safety strategy.

You will provide practical advice and support across the business, ensuring effective systems are in place and that health and safety is embedded throughout operations.

The role will cover compliance, risk management, auditing, incident investigation, training and continuous improvement, with nationwide travel required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain health and safety policies, procedures and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Lead and oversee risk assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate actions.
  • Provide health and safety advice, guidance and training to managers and employees.
  • Support managers in maintaining high standards of health and safety across their teams.
  • Monitor health and safety performance and provide regular reporting to senior management.
  • Lead and support health and safety improvement initiatives across the business.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety professional who is confident working independently and able to communicate effectively with people at all levels.

The successful candidate will have:

  • NEBOSH or an equivalent recognised health and safety qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Proven experience leading health and safety within an operational environment.
  • Experience within construction, temporary accommodation, plant hire or a similar industry would be advantageous.
  • Experience in risk assessments, auditing and incident investigation.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • A practical and proactive approach to health and safety.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.

Package

  • £65,000 salary
  • Company car
  • Up to 10% annual bonus
