Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a leading manufacturing business in the Leeds area to recruit an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager.

This is a high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to shape HSE strategy, process safety and environmental performance within a complex, high-hazard manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll provide both strategic direction and hands-on leadership, managing a small HSE team and driving a proactive safety culture across the site.

The role

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering the site HSE strategy and continuous improvement programme
  • Ensuring compliance with COMAH and process safety requirements
  • Managing major accident hazard risk and maintaining the Safety Report
  • Leading HAZOP, LOPA, risk assessment and Management of Change activities
  • Ensuring compliance with DSEAR, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER and wider HSE legislation
  • Managing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems
  • Leading environmental compliance, permitting, emissions monitoring and sustainability initiatives
  • Developing emergency response and business continuity arrangements
  • Managing audits, incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Working closely with senior leadership, regulators and operational teams
  • Coaching and developing the HSE team

What we're looking for

We’re keen to speak with experienced HSE professionals who have worked within a COMAH-regulated or high-hazard manufacturing environment.

You’ll need:

  • Strong knowledge of process safety and UK HSE legislation
  • Experience working within chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical or similarly high-risk manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience influencing stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience managing HSE teams and driving cultural change
  • NEBOSH Diploma, Level 6 H&S qualification or relevant degree – essential
