About the Client

Our client is a leading Tier 1 infrastructure contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-profile engineering and construction projects across the UK rail and civil sectors.

Due to recent major contract wins and continued operational growth, the business now seeks to appoint an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager to drive compliance, safety culture, and environmental standards across their London and Slough regional projects.

The Role

  • Will report directly to the Head of HSE and hold operational responsibility for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental strategies across regional site operations.
  • Will advise and support project delivery teams, ensuring full compliance with Network Rail standards, CDM regulations, and statutory HSE legislation.
  • Will lead site audits, safety inspections, risk assessments, and accident/incident investigations, identifying root causes and delivering corrective action plans.
  • Will foster a proactive, zero-harm safety culture by delivering safety briefings, training, and engaging positively with site personnel and subcontractors.
  • Will act as the primary interface for client HSE representatives, external regulatory bodies, and local authorities.

The Person

  • Will possess a proven track record of working as a Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist or HSE Manager within the UK rail or civil engineering sectors.
  • Will hold a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and hold Chartered or Graduate status with IOSH (CMIOSH / GradIOSH), alongside suitable environmental qualifications (e.g., IEMA).
  • Will demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of Network Rail safety frameworks (including PTS certification requirements where applicable) and UK environmental management systems (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001).
  • Will have strong communication, negotiation, and influence skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of project delivery.
  • Will be keen to join a progressive, expanding contractor that actively rewards success and supports long-term career progression.
